Berani dalam Benar : Bored of Peace! Operation Epic Misery!

In January 2026, the so-called the Board of Peace (BoP) came into being. The formation of the board was announced on via a post on Truth Social, which said, "It is my Great Honor to announce that THE BOARD OF PEACE has been formed.” It was established by the US President Donald Trump, first proposed in September 2025 and formally established on the side-lines of the 56th World Economic Forum in Davos, January 2026. It is regarded as an international organisation with the stated purpose of promoting peacekeeping globally. Led by the US government, notably the President, BoP is reportedly named in United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 as a body tasked with overseeing the processes of the Gaza peace plan. The plan included provisions for the construction of 100, 000 housing units in Rafah as well as a "New Gaza, " and stressed the importance of security and the demilitarisation of Hamas.

The said Resolution welcomed the board to aid with reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip, via the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), and authorised it to deploy a temporary peacekeeping force. Countries are invited to participate, and are required to contribute USD1 billion to the organisation to renew membership after the first three years. As of 2026, 25 of the 62 invited countries have signed the board's charter. The meeting brought leaders and senior officials, mostly from “allied” nations, according to reports, to praise Trump as the peacemaker. Malaysia (the former Chair of Asean Summit) however, was not in the invitation list, whereas member states Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia and Vietnam were. In addition, at least 10 Muslim-majority countries were also invited, Malaysia is again excluded. Indonesia was designated to explore peacekeeping roles in Gaza. According to official sources, Indonesia is prepared to send 20,000 personnel, including medical teams and engineers, pending international approval.  However, it will quit if  it does not bring any benefit to Gaza in particular. With its firm support for a two-state solution in the Mideast, officials have justified joining the Board of Peace by saying it was necessary to defend Palestinian interests “from within, since Israel is included on the board but there is no Palestinian representation.”  At the same time, it does not pose a strategic threat to Israel. The idea of Indonesians serving as peacekeepers in Gaza is seen in the region as a good one, said Hassan Jouni, a Qatar-based analyst who was formerly a Lebanese army general. Indonesia, he said, is viewed as an “honest and acceptable broker” by both sides in the conflicts in Lebanon and Gaza.

That said, many are known to have declined the invitation even among close allies of the US. While Israel is included, some criticise the BoP as “a neoliberal project in favour of Israel.” Canada, though received an invitation, was subsequently rescinded after allegedly describing it as "Trump's power grab." European nations have expressed concern over the possibility of the board usurping the role of the UN.

Overall, the board is said to have “failed to attract enthusiasm from most world leaders.”  In fact, it was highlighted that despite its peace-sloganeering, “nearly half of its members were involved in active conflicts,” implicating the US, no less. Moreover, the BoP was supposedly going to resolve conflicts, not just in the Middle East but around the world. The US president's plan has expanded to be more ambitious by demanding “unconditional surrender” from Iran, since the goal of “regime change” has collapsed in his face. And the language of a potential nuclear war has been heard more frequently into the third week from the aggressors, whereas, it is intended for a “short” period of time! It looks as though the Gaza killing episodes are repeating, after killing upwards of 80,000 people in Gaza, flattening the enclave, Israel has continued with land grabs on what territory to deny the two-state solution. The bombing of a girls' school in Minab has now pointed to the US "moved" a Tomahawk missile used only by the Americans on the first day of the attack. More than 150 children died instantly - not unlike the many tragedies in Gaza!

Several policy analysts and officials have expressed concerns about the board's governance model, raising concerns over the decision-making authority concentrated in its chair. According to the UK Guardian, on the BoP, “there is no requirement for Trump to justify himself. There are no rules other than those giving Trump the power to make them up as he goes along.” Better that as it may, Iran so far, is not barging. It is able to turn original Operation Epic Fury to Operation Epic Misery for “war-mongers” who seem to be “bored of Peace” true to the chameleon-like leadership of America First!
